Memory Train 04:56
MEMORY TRAIN (Strider/Burch) 6am and the world’s just stirring He’s been up a good part of the night Coffee’s up, but it ain’t done perkin’ Heavy eyes can’t read, you know it’s a fight What they write about, don’t interest him much Not much readin’ there, no surprise (spoken): "So he sits alone by the window to hear the train comin’ down the line." Memory Train, it’s a-comin’ down the track Memory Train, all aboard, no turnin’ back Everybody knows it’s time to go When you hear the whistle blow On the Memory Train Sun’s straight up, time to head on over Grab a bite at the corner cafe Sittin’ at the counter, flippin’ through the menu Already knows what he'll have, and what he will pay About a mile from town, the 12:08's comin’ round Traffic waits for crossin’ gates to rise (Spoken): "So he walks to the door, to listen once more For the train comin’ down the line." Memory Train, it’s a-comin’ down the track Memory Train, all aboard, no turnin’ back Everybody knows it’s time to go When you hear the whistle blow On the Memory Train (Instrumental solos: piano - Jon Strider / harmonica - Hurricane Jake) Shadows long and the sun is fallin’ Tomorrow waits around the bend House on the hill fades away Still the night, a quiet friend Train of time, movin’ down the line Every man along for the ride So he walks coat in hand into the night All alone there he stands and waits for the light of the train, far away, a-burnin’ so bright___ (spoken by Ben Farish): "All Aboard!" Memory Train, it’s a-comin’ down the track Memory Train, all aboard, no turnin’ back Everybody knows it’s time to go When you hear the whistle blow On the Memory Train Memory Train, it’s a-comin’ down the track Memory Train, all aboard, no turnin’ back Everybody knows it’s time to go When you hear the whistle blow On the Memory Train Memory Train, ooo - ooo Memory Train, ahh - ahh Oh, oh, oh ,oh Memory Train, ooo - ooo Memory Train, ahh - ahh Oh, oh, oh ,oh ©1994 Pacific Songworks/Kindred Way Music, BMI All Rights Reserved Worldwide

Oh Daddy 04:38
OH DADDY (Strider/Burch) “To Protect And Serve” were the words on daddy’s car Had a gun at his side, on his badge a shining star Daddy’d come how late at night, Take the blue hat off his head Tuck me in, turn out the light I’d rest easy in my bed Oh Daddy, Oh Daddy My hero in the blue I always wanted to be Just like you Oh Daddy, Oh Daddy I dreamed we’d always be Standing strong and proud You and me Oh Daddy, Oh Daddy When I was twenty-one, I joined him on the force Dad said, “Son, before your done, patience runs it’s course. There’s a lot of mean out there, and folks don’t seem to know How much cops really care Just don’t always show.” Well, I’ve been ten years on the force And daddy’s words ring true Hate and fear everywhere, What’s this world comin’ to My hands tremble every night Trying to stay strong When there’s no line between wrong and right It’s hard to carry on Oh Daddy, Oh Daddy My hero in the blue I always wanted to be Just like you Oh Daddy, Oh Daddy I dreamed we’d always be Standing strong and proud You and me Oh Daddy Dad I’ll never let you down I know the price you paid God, I know you’re watchin’ too So help us before it’s too late Can’t we get together now ‘Cause hearts weren’t made for hate___ Oh Daddy, Oh Daddy My hero in the blue I always wanted to be Just like you Oh Daddy, Oh Daddy I dreamed we’d always be Standing strong and proud You and me Oh Daddy, Oh Daddy I always wanted to be just like you Oh Daddy, Oh Daddy They took my hero away I never even got to say goodbye Oh Daddy, Oh Daddy (spoken): “Daddy?” ©1994 Pacific Songworks/Kindred Way Music, BMI All Rights Reserved Worldwide

GIVE US THESE THINGS (Strider/Burch) Give us some wings to carry a mother’s prayer To heavenly scenes With children in angel’s care Give us a plow and we’ll lighten a farmer’s load We’ll wipe his brow And take him down an easier road Give Us These Things Send them today Give Us These Things Help us we pray Give us the eyes And we’ll see a better land Past fears and lies We’ll begin to understand Give us the ears and we’ll hear creation’s cry Through all these years Begging us, give love a try Give Us These Things Send them today Give Us These Things Help us we pray (Instrumental solo: viola - Novi Novog) Give Us These Things Send them today Give Us These Things Help us we pray___ ©1994 Pacific Songworks/Kindred Way Music, BMI All Rights Reserved Worldwide

STRAIGHT TALKIN‘ MACHINERY (Strider/Burch) Well, a searchin’ soul from angel town came a lookin’ for the truth one day He said to the man “ I been the world ‘round listenin’ to what other people say. So tell me, man on the mountain, what does this life really mean? Please show me what I’ve been missing, like a vision that can’t be seen.” Straight Talkin’ Machinery, comes right from the heart It’s a secret space, in a sacred place Where the end of the journey starts Straight Talkin’ Machinery, right from the heart That’s Straight Talkin’ Machinery Straight Talkin’ Machinery Well, the man looked the soul right in the eye, and said, “What do you want from this place? Is it gold or hope, or is it a tree, so you’re above the human race?” The soul said “Not sure, gotta give me some time, I gotta have an answer for that. I guess satisfaction’s my aim, but I ain’t sure what I’m shootin’ at.” Straight Talkin’ Machinery, comes right from the heart It’s a secret space, in a sacred place Where the end of the journey starts Straight Talkin’ Machinery, right from the heart That’s Straight Talkin’ Machinery Straight Talkin’ Machinery Then the mountain man put his mighty hand On the shoulder of the soul He said “I’m always here, please understand, I know uncertainty takes its toll. So come on over to the big top, let’s take a good look around Me and you got the very best view to the only show in town.” See builders building strong bridges to bring this world together Some decide the river’s too wide, their tools stay in the leather See farmers growin’ good things, for themselves, and others too Others plant with hurryin’ hands only that which they can chew.” (spoken): Then the mountain man winked at the soul and said... Straight Talkin’ Machinery, comes right from the heart It’s a secret space, in a sacred place Where the road to forever starts Straight Talkin’ Machinery, right from the heart That’s Straight Talkin’ Machinery, Straight Talkin’ Machinery Straight Talkin’ Machinery___ ©1994 Pacific Songworks/Kindred Way Music, BMI All Rights Reserved Worldwide

LITTLE NAPOLEON (Strider) Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah! Look at the grown-ups, they're just like children Some learn to give and get along Others are fighters, bullies and liars Thinking they're right, but doing wrong Look in the mirror, you'll see it clearer The selfish little game that you play No one can ever get near you With that lonely pride in the way, oh Why must you be the Number 1? Little Napoleon So much to share beneath the sun Little Napoleon Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah! Look at the world, it's like a playground Takes just a few to spoil the fun Runaway leaders, royal deceivers Taking their power from everyone We've got to show them, we'll overthrow them If they can't settle down and behave We've got to do this together, so all the people can play, oh Why must you be the Number 1? Little Napoleon So much to share with everyone Little Napoleon Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah! (Instrumental solo: organ - Jon Strider) Ooo - Ooo Little Napoleon Ooo - Ooo - Ooo Little Napoleon When your day is over what will you have left? The same old sad reminder of the way you served yourself___ (spoken): "Now Napoleon, I want you to listen to me. We've had enough of this behavior! We want you to cool out! Just cool out!!" about

1995 review of 'KINDRED WAY VOL. 2' review in Music Row Magazine
by the highly respected Nashville critic, Robert Oermann:

"Magna-Day!. I think I've found someone in this stack of CD's who bears watching. His name is Jon Strider. As a triple-threat songwriter, singer and producer, he easily captured this issue's DISC-overy Award. Thank you for your attention."

ABOUT KINDRED WAY VOL. 2
Jon Strider, and his songwriting partner on this album, Walter Burch, decided to re-issue 'KINDRED WAY VOL. 2'' as a 2015 digital release,. It originally came out in November, 1994 on Kindred Way Records. It achieved airplay on 100's of radio stations nationally in the U.S., in the mid-1990's.
The album features some of the top session musicians and vocalists from that (early 1990's) time period including Armand Sabal-Lecco (Paul Simon+), Taras Prodaniuk (Dwight Yoakum, Richard Thompson, Lucinda Williams, Merle Haggard), Steve Chrismar (George Thorogood), Skyler Jett (Commodores+), Claytoven Richardson, Laura Ahlstrand, Sandi Griffith, Billy Block, Jo Anne Montana, Howard Yearwood, David Raven, Hurricane Jake and Novi Novog (Freeway Philharmonic).
More than merely a record label, Kindred Way was involved in many charitable projects internationally. This was a warm, joyous project for sure--with purpose and meaning to boot! Doesn't get better!

As DAN KIMPEL wrote:
"(The music on Kindred Way Vol. 2)... is best defined as Rhythm & Folk: music painted over a bright and colourful canvas of silver-stringed guitars warmed with pianos, close harmonies, tambourines and real drums...music that speaks to the listener in a friendly narrative… Produced and arranged by Strider, this collection was mixed at (Indigo Ranch Studio) high in the mountains above Malibu, while dogs chased in the chaparral and red-tailed hawks circled in the clouds."
