The photo is of SKIP EDWARDS who is featured prominently, playing Hammond Organ, on this song, and, indeed, throughout the entirety of the whole Soul Reunion album.
Written in my “leaving America” phase (circa 2002). Captures that era perfectly. Co-writer Simon Lynge suggested the title, and, with what I was going through at the time, the song practically wrote itself-----L.A.-based, keyboard maestro Skip Edwards was Soul Reunion’s Hammond organist extraordinaire. He’s played on thousands of major label/top-drawer-artist’s records, including the Dixie Chicks, Bonnie Rait, Roy Orbison, Buck Owens, kd Lang, Lucinda Williams and Ike Turner.
We worked long distance. Distance definitely did us - and this album -very good, indeed!
lyrics
DISTANCE DO ME GOOD
(Jon Strider-Simon Overgaard Lynge)
I left our home’s confusion
10,000 miles ago
A million steps to somewhere,
and nowhere I suppose
And I long for transformation
on these planes and midnight trains
Hope these wheels and wings,
and moving things
Can heal the passing days
I find there’s comfort in this motion
Distance Do Me Good
Just let me dive inside my ocean
Distance Do Me Good___
Do Me Good
It seemed our love had wandered
from the place it had begun
A strange and scary vacuum
from which I had to run
And the further that I get away
the closer I can see
These foreign winds and languages
Speak of you and me
I find there’s comfort in this motion
Distance Do Me Good
Just let me dive inside my ocean
Distance Do Me Good___
Do Me Good_
(Musical Interlude)
So where do we go from here
Just trying to buy some time
Excuse me for wondering
I’m kind of lost inside
I’ll let you know when I’m found
I find there’s comfort in this motion
Distance Do Me Good
Just let me dive inside my ocean
Distance Do Me Good_______
Do Me Good
Distance Do Me Good___
Distance Do Me Good___
