KIM FOWLEY, www.kimfowley.net, well-known record producer (Runaways, Helen Reddy, Steel Breeze), hit songwriter/poet, artist and my co-writer on "Never Let Them See You Cry", discovered me in 1980. He was all set to produce me in 1981, but the financing didn't come through. Instead, when I moved to L.A. in 1986, we wrote a batch of songs together, including "Never Let Them See You Cry". I am thankful that he let me into his orbit for awhile. I learned alot from him. Underneath his whacky personal style was a very kind man. A true, legendary original. A feature film came out in 2010, about Kim, and The Runaways - a band that Kim nurtured & produced (and that spawned Joan Jett & Lita Ford...) I'm really happy that some well deserved "public" recognition came to him in that last stage of his life. I dedicate this "finally mastered"version of this song to his memory.
lyrics
NEVER LET THEM SEE YOU CRY
(Strider/Fowley)
Morning, noon and night
You gotta hang on, hang on real tight
Moonlight and star bright
Gotta keep the faith
Gonna be alright
Never Let Them See You Cry
When you say hello and they wave good-bye
Never Let Them See You Cry
Never confess, never tell them why
Keep it inside
You can make a change
Show them your strength when you feel pain
It’s your heart, a new start
Don’t let them know you’re falling apart
Never Let Them See You Cry
When you say hello and they wave good-bye
Never Let Them See You Cry
Never confess, never tell them why
Turn on your dream star
When you’re all alone
And tell your tear stained pillow
That it won’t be long
No, it won’t be very long
Just hold on___!
Never Let Them See You Cry
When you say hello and they wave good-bye
Never Let Them See You Cry
Never confess, never tell them why
Never Let Them See You Cry
When they say hello, wave good-bye
Never Let Them See You Cry
Never confess, never tell them why
Never tell them why, Oh___
Never Let Them See You Cry
Oh, oh, oh, oh oh_____
Never Let Them See You Cry
Never see you cry
Never see you cry
They never, never, never, never, oh_______
Never Let Them See You Cry
Ooo__________________
Waive good-bye
Never Let Them See You Cry
They never, never, never, never, oh_______
Never Let Them See You Cry
Ooo___________________, yeah___
Never see you cry
They'll never see you cry
